5°Special Bulldog Show Budapest - 20 10 2007 Judge: Mr. Peter Robson

It was an honour to be asked to to judge your show. The exhibitors were very
friendly and accepted my aponent as I am an only one judge.
My host was one of the best and I would like to thank  for the kindness and
hospitality.
The dogs were very good but must try to improve on Pigmintation and over
wrinkle heads. There was half a dozen or more I would have taken home and
should have. The quality was of a very high standard.

Thank you very much all of you for coming.

Mr. Peter Robson

4°Bulldog Club Show Budapest - 28 05 2007
Judge: Mr. Tony Darmanin

Many thanks for your kind hospitality during my recent visit to Budapest to Judge Bulldogs.I am only sorry it was such a short visit as I would have loved to have seen more of your lovely Capital city. It was a pleasure to judge under the warm sun of the afternoon and I was impressed by the overall general good quality of the bulldogs present on the day.
Some specimens have very tight tails and there were several borderline cases where they were either non existent or bordering on being ingrown.Breeders must understand that Judges are being asked to penalise such specimens by the FCI and in future that will be the case.I also noticed that puppies and some older specimens are not fully pigmented ,I like my pups to be fully pigmented before they leave for their new homes at between 8 or 9 weeks and they must certainly not lack it at 6 months or older.it would be both advisable and beneficial to introduce some brindle dogs in the gene pool to correct this tendency otherwise this is going to become a major problem in Hungary.
There were few wry mouths and a few loose in shoulder and a couple or so showing lameness in rear but no more than is found in other countries or even in the UK.
There were some very fine specimens who would hold their own in any other country including the UK and it was pleasing to see the Junior CAC Bitch win BIS Junior and the BOB come reserve BIS.Both merited their awards.
Finally I would like you to convey my thanks to the organisers ,my stewards,my translator and especially the exhibitors who in the main took my decisions sportingly.I wish you and your club good fortune in the future and hope to see you grow in numbers with even better quality bulldogs .

3°Special Bulldog Show - 21 10 2006 Judge: Mr. Brian Taylor

It give me great pleasure to except your clubs invitation to judge your Special Club Show in your beautiful city of Budapest.

It is always very nice to see new Bulldog Clubs being formed all over the World, and you are fortunate to have a very excellent secretary in Nyulas Imre.

The work he puts into and forming and running your club is of the highest order and that includes his hospitality to me, i cannot thank him enough.

At the Show it was very nice the way exhibiters excepted my placings.

My principal winners:

Dogs:
Gróz-Kriger Thobie
Gróz-Kriger Vito
Danny of to Love Till Craziness
Lemon Vom Solo Soberano

Bitches:
British Gladiator To Much
Tankajd Szépe Adria
Lemon Vom Gracias
Aphorizma of to Love Craziness

You credit and I was very pleased with them.

The General quality of dogs very good. Many good heads with dark eyes, good ears, broad noses and nice lay-backs. Bone was good, with majority of top lines also good. On the fault side. There were some tails , the were not to the new standard as with back movement in some dogs, also jaws in some are a problem. But I am sure this will improve in time.

Thank you again for invite me to your loverly country. I hope to meet you in the very near future.

Brian Taylor

2°Special Club Show - 18 03 2006
Judge: Mr. Chris Carberry

I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to judge the Bulldogs at their March show, and for extending to me the honour of judging Best in Show "All Breeds.

I would also thank Mr Nyulas Imre and the committee for the wonderful hospitality shown to me during my first visit to Hungary and the other judges for their kind wishes and congratulations during the show.

I was very happy to have an entry of 79 dogs. I found the quality of the bulldogs in general to be very good, with some to be exceptional, born out by the number of "excellent" awarded in all classes.
The bitches overall were slightly better in quality than the dogs. The presentation was better than I had expected and most of the dogs were in good, clean condition. Having said this, there were three or four exhibits that were presented to me in a very poor and dirty condition, and considering how easy it is to keep a bulldog clean I consider this unacceptable.

I was pleased with all my class winners, and in particular the B.O.B. Erossino Of To Love Till Craziness, and the young white bitch. Lemon Vom Luisa Lopez coming from a very strong youth class. I am sure that these, and others I have not mentioned could compete in the U.K with honour. I thank all the exhibitors for staying to the end of the judging and their good humour on what was a very cold and damp day, and also for their sporting acceptance of my class placing.

And so onto Best in Show.
From al the B.O.B. winners I picked out ten for further consideration. Having moved them all again, I had short listed "in my mind" the beautiful Newfoundland, the majestic Leonberger and the stunning Bulldog. All three were expertly presented, and great ambassadors for their respective breeds.

My final choice for Reserve B.I.S. was the, quality balanced, Lancelot Vom Matthiasberg HJCH, HCH, ICH.

Best in Show was the super, young Bulldog, with great movement, super jaw, good bone, correct pear shape, and not forgetting "star quality"
EROSSINO OF TO LOVE TILL CRAZINESS

1°Special Bulldog Show - 29 10 2005 Judge: Mr. Norman Davis

It was an honour to judge bulldogs in Budapest on 29th October.

I was grateful for the hospitality and friendly welcome I received in Hungary. The weather was beautiful and I had a lovely entry of over 80 bulldogs, none of which I had ever seen before with the exception of 2.

The ring was large with an even surface, so assessment of movement was easy.

I was very impressed with the overall quality of the bulldogs with several that could win in the UK.

Temperament was excellent, presentation and condition of the dogs was of a high standard. The bulldoggers in Europe and surrounding countries are rapidly catching up with the UK.

I was very impressed with my Best of Breed and Best Opposite Sex, which I was later informed, were brother and sister. My Best Opposite Sex was a powerful pure white male, with a superb body, good bone, and superb movement. Although a little course in head, his overall balance and quality deserved the award of best dog. My Best of Breed, the bitch, was a beautiful feminine red and white female with a stunning head, super bone and feet, a wonderful body although I would have liked to see a little better towline. In my final assessment for the Best of Breed, she didn't put a foot wrong and it was my pleasure to give her Best of Breed.

I would like to thank the exhibitors for bringing their dogs for me to go over and for the sporting way in which they accepted my decisions. Although I know as an exhibitor myself that some must have been very disappointed. However on the day this is only my decision and all could change at the next show!

I must apologise to the exhibitors for having to make my critiques short as we were pushed for daylight due to the late finish of the previous judge, but I hope that my remarks were constructive.

The two problems I found to be most prevalent were eyes and jaws - many eyes were light in colour and a few had entropian, and under jaws in general were poor, many being and narrow and a high percentage being wry. I hope that you can take this criticism constructively. Bitches were far superior in quality to the dogs overall - this can only be good for the breed. Now that the borders of many Countries have been opened up it is possible to use any dog in Europe with forward planning.

Many thanks to my two young stewards for their patience and understanding.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal in the evening at a traditional Hungarian restaurant, which finished off a lovely weekend.

Mr. Norman Davis
